Take a journey out of the zoo and onto the stage with your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends from the blockbuster DreamWorks film. Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hip Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on th unexpected musical journey of a lifetime to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar. All rehearsals and classes take place at the Redwood Little Theatre, 395 Doherty Dr, Larkspur, CA 94939.

Character Descriptions:

Alex: A lion, the main attraction at the Central Park Zoo. A fun-loving fella with lots of charisma.

Marty: A zebra with big dreams. Marty is sweet and funny, someone we all root for.

Gloria: A hippopotamus, big and bold, with a maternal streak.

Melman: A giraffe, kind-hearted and nervous. Also, he’s a hypochondriac.

Skipper: A penguin, the captain, giving orders with ease of command.

Kowalski: A penguin, second-in-command, dutiful and loyal.

Rico: A penguin, the brute of the group, ready to karate chop anything in sight.

Private: A penguin, cute, fuzzy and dumb.

Mason: A chimpanzee, highly intelligent, with a bone to pick regarding his species rep as simple minded.

King Julien: A lemur, silly, egotistical, the beloved ruler of his species.

Maurice: A lemur, loyal to King Julien, skeptical of the new inhabitants of Madagascar.

Mort: A lemur, small, sweet and funny. He can barely speak.

The Ensemble: Madagascar, a Musical Adventure, has tons of small roles and features, including the Fossa, a group of cat-like predators, the lionesses, back up singers for Alex, servers, police officers, Newspaper men, New Yorkers, and zoo animals.
