We are thrilled to announce that

will be transitioning to

starting June, 2017!

To the dear TYP families, the Throckmorton Theatre community, et al.,

I hope this email finds you well. It is with mixed feelings that I must announce that I will be leaving the position of  Director of Youth Programs for the Throckmorton Theatre this June. I have embraced an opportunity to take on the business affairs and continue the legacy of Marilyn Izdebski Productions in San Anselmo under the newly formed 23 Elephants Theatre Company. Bidalia and I will be starting this new journey at the beginning of summer. While I am excited for what lies ahead, I am sad to be stepping away from the Throckmorton community.

In the next few months I will be working with the Throckmorton Theatre office to insure that Throckmorton Youth Performers is well prepared to continue offering the exceptional arts education and performance opportunities for which it has become well known in Marin County. While I am preparing TYP for the future, Marilyn Izdebski will be working with Bidalia to set up 23 Elephants for success in this new adventure. Marilyn Izdebski Productions and Throckmorton Youth Performers have always had a positive relationship and I look forward to the prospect of this relationship becoming even stronger with 23 Elephants Theatre Company.

I would like to thank all of you who have been a part of TYP and have given me the opportunity to wake up and live the dream every day. I am so grateful for all the relationships I’ve made in this fantastic community and hope to stay in touch with all of you! I am happy to answer any questions regarding this transition. I would also like to thank the Throckmorton Theatre staff, in particular, Lucy Mercer, for all of the support, guidance, and patience over the last six years.

Finally, while this sounds like goodbye, it most certainly is not. I am excited to be leading the way here at TYP for the remainder of the season, and working closely with the Throckmorton to help lay the groundwork for its continued growth for many years to come. I have taken tremendous pride in having nurtured and developed TYP over the last several years, and look forward to watching its continued growth for many more.

With gratitude,

Steven Hess

Marilyn Izdebski's Transition to 23 Elephants

Marilyn Izdebski is passing on her legacy to 23 Elephants Theatre Company.  Bidalia E. Albanese, Maria Elena Cacciatore, and Ashley Kimball will also be part of the team!

Details are being worked out, but here is the basic plan which is based on what has been done for years:

  • Summer Musical Theatre Camp at Redwood High School -- June 19-July22

    • Madagascar for 7-12 year olds and Young Frankenstein for 12-18 year olds

  • Fall and Spring Musicals at The Playhouse for 8-18 year olds - to be announced!

  • Junior Musical Theatre at The Playhouse for 5-7 year olds - to be announced!

  • Dance Classes at the Studio:

    • Marilyn will consolidate her dance classes and teach Tap every other week on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and Bidalia will teach the Jazz part of the dance classes.  We will continue the every other week structure of Tap and Jazz.

  • More programs will be added as well!

  • Also, all the sets, props and costumes will stay at the Studio to be used and enjoyed for many more shows!

23 Elephants is so excited for the opportunity to take on the Studio under Marilyn's guidance, and to meet all the wonderful students in this community.  We very much look forward to getting to know all of you in the years to come.  Marilyn will be working with all of us to make the transition successful and fun!

More details will be out soon!
